Big Block

In late 2009 I was commissioned to create this massive "Lego" brick. The final piece is a full 64x the size of the classic Lego brick, cast in solid brass. The piece is heavy, weighing about 3 pounds. The form is polished on the sides and top of the "buttons", and the flat part of the top is sandblasted for a striking contrast. In the images below, you will see the model, which I crafted in acrylic, The piece next to a traditional brick to see the size, and the front side of the block, into which I engraved the phrase "because we love to build things" (as the commission requested).
